Why We Talk About Creativity
(All. The. Time.)

At The Wonder Approach, we talk about creativity so much that even our paintbrushes roll their eyes at us… but there’s a reason. Creativity isn’t an “extra”—it’s a driving force. It’s how children solve problems, test ideas, communicate big feelings, and make sense of their world. When a child mixes mud with petals to make “perfume,” builds a spaceship out of boxes, or uses a stick as a magic wand, they’re not just playing—they’re developing brain pathways that spark curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. So yes, we sprinkle creativity everywhere… like confetti that actually means something. It’s why we changed our business name of 16 years - Early Years Care. Early Years Care is so special to us and is where we began as a small family business. But this year -we wanted to be something more than care. Care is always embedded with love and respect in our service. But we wanted the ‘wonder’ back, for not only children but educators alike. Early Years Care will always have a special place in our hearts

The Wonder Warehouse

This year to match our new philosophy, we curated something magical: The Wonder Warehouse. Once a boring room of admin folders, filing cabinets, and 30 years of boxed-up teacher resources, it has been transformed into a living, breathing space of imagination. Things have been hard in the sector—energies low, pressures high—and children deserve more than paperwork, box-ticking, and unmotivated educators. It took four months of real, gritty, joyful work… but we did it. The Wonder Warehouse is now a creative hub where educators can gather for play sessions, inspiration, and connection. In 2026, families will also be invited to share the magic.

Our Magic Treasure Trailer

And the fun doesn’t stop there. Our Magic Treasure Trailer—stuffed to the brim with loose parts and wonder—is always ready to hit the road. Add to that our upcoming channel of stories, dance, music, puppets, circus tricks, art ideas, and so much more… and you’ve got a creativity revolution rolling straight through Family Day Care.

Creativity is a way of Learning

Creativity also lets children be bold thinkers and gentle dreamers. It teaches them that there isn’t just one right answer, one correct way, or one perfect line to colour inside.

Our environments, routines, and interactions are deliberately designed to invite imagination, wonder, risk-taking, and discovery. When educators model creativity—through storytelling, problem-solving, humour, and open-ended exploration—children learn to trust their ideas, celebrate their uniqueness, and approach challenges with confidence.

At The Wonder Approach, creativity isn’t a subject. It’s a way of life, a way of learning, and a way of seeing the world with wide, sparkly, endlessly curious eyes.

We want children to head off to big school with wide eyes and open hearts—ready to become learning sponges. We don’t want tiny rote counters and early readers pushed too soon only to become disengaged in their very first year. Research shows that children who read, imagine, enact, socialise, create, and question do better in formal learning—when they are developmentally ready. And that’s exactly what creativity prepares them for: a future where learning feels joyful, meaningful, and full of wonder.
